Much Ado About Nothing

I generally don´t write theater reviews, I don´t like and it´s out of my skills to do it properly. But I don´t resist on commenting a play watched at The Lisbon Players last Thursday. The Play from Shakespeare is well known, but it is always refreshing and defying to attend the Lisbon Players adaptation of the Great Master of Play writing W. S..The play made me reflect on the volatility and vanity of feelings when a human, man or woman fell in love. What we say, what we hide, how hard it is to assume what is ridicule and at the same time totally intimate. Beatrice and Benedict, are completely frail, taken by doubt, scared on the prospect of love. It is no human to have wits and fear, pride and prejudice, and enough sensibility to admit it. When we speak with ourselves, we become gullible, attached to signs and gestures, postures and keywords for byplay, and lose in the translation of feelings. We forget strategy and defenses and we jump into danger and oblivion, we risk our equilibrium in order to be certain of the love we want to live. We forgot power when we develop intrinsic values. We discover peace and happiness and we ride our own dreams. Gossip is however poison, when we are much more distrustful of everything that is said. Love and Gossip dance in our minds and in our hearts. But the menace of disaster, of death also plays a role and we live again in happiness. And everything ends well as the comedy goes on. And curtain down i wonder if that night was worthy, and I say yes...
